Moving around in Basel

Walking

Basel is a safe and walkable city. Thanks to its manageable size, the city of Basel is easy to explore on foot. You can find your way around using the grey information boards at all the key locations of the city centre.

There are also boards all over Basel with large maps of the entire city. These are located, for example, at both railway stations, the EuroAirport, the landing stages and the car parks. You will also find boards at all public transport stops in the canton with map sections showing a smaller radius of your location. On these maps you can quickly see what interesting sights are close by. In addition to these boards the city also has 70 signposts. The free city map available online ( https://map.geo.bs.ch/?lang=en ) and in printed form from the Tourist Information office will also help you find your way.

Public Transportation

Basel's green and yellow trams have become an inseparable part of the cityscape.

Together with the bus network, these ensure that the city's inhabitants and visitors alike can move themselves quickly and comfortably around the city and even across the border into the neighbouring countries of France and Germany.

As a hotel guest in the city on the Rhine, you may also benefit from the BaselCard, which allows you to use the public transport network for the entire duration of your stay. When arriving in Basel your hotel confirmation is valid as ticket.
